Certification Process

The process is painless and won’t take long!
To obtain NIFDE Certification, a dentist (on behalf of his/her self and a dental facility) must complete the NIFDE Review Process.

The NIFDE Review process has been created by the NIFDE Review Panel and focuses on the patient and office experience at your dental facility and then on various other issues. The NIFDE Review process is not based on clinical care, including but not limited to the quality or proficiency of such. Remember, the NIFDE Review Panel has created and administers the NIFDE Review Process with the intent on granting NIFDE Certification to qualified providers.

Objective Evaluation
Offices are not evaluated by a system whereby one office is measured against a different office, but are instead evaluated pursuant to a standard set forth by NIFDE. Again, this is not a competition between offices, instead an opportunity to let prospective employees and patients know that you comply with NIFDE Standards.

NIFDE Review Process
  1. To begin the NIFDE Review Process, you have two options. You can Download the NIFDE Application or simply contact NIFDE by phone, fax or email, and a NIFDE representative will gladly forward you a NIFDE Application. The NIFDE Application is available for delivery via fax, email, or traditional mail.

  2. Once you have the NIFDE Application, follow the instructions and complete the application in its entirety. A completed NIFDE Application should then be mailed or faxed back to NIFDE.

  3. Upon receipt of a completed NIFDE Application, it is analyzed and reviewed by the NIFDE Review Panel. In the event questions arise or if additional information is required, a member from the NIFDE Review Panel will contact you regarding such question or about the need for more information. Typically, during the normal NIFDE Review Process, there are no additional questions provided the NIFDE Application has been completed in its entirety. Given the size of our membership base, site reviews are not done.

As the dental field continues to evolve and change, the protocols and criteria of the NIFDE Review Process are continuously updated and revised.
