Eligibility

All Dentists and Specialists are Eligible
If you are a general dentist, periodontist, orthodontist, oral surgeon, prosthodontist, endodontist, or pediatric dentist, practicing in the United States, you are eligible to apply for NIFDE Certification for both your dental facility and your self. The NIFDE Program does not apply for those dentists practicing outside the US.

Practice Specific
NIFDE Certification is both dental facility and doctor based, meaning that one doctor (who is either an owner or managing doctor) must apply for his/her self and his/her dental facility to become NIFDE Certified. A doctor can not be NIFDE Certified if the dental facility where that doctor works has not been NIFDE Certified. In the event that a doctor has more than one office, each dental facility will require NIFDE Certification.

Additional Doctors at a Certified Facility
However, once a dental facility becomes NIFDE Certified (including its owning or managing doctor), additional doctors at such NIFDE Certified facility are eligible for NIFDE Certification under a different review process.

Hygienists
Hygienists are eligible to receive NIFDE Certification as well, provided they work in a practice that has been NIFDE Certified as above.

All dentists that wish to participate must be duly licensed in the states for which they would like to participate with NIFDE Certification.
